Hello folks,

Heard about this board on the NJ Z Club web site. While I don't own a Z just yet, I do own a D:

My goal is finding a nice Z31 (1984-1989) to be my next daily driver. I'll probably be popping up at a few of the NJ events to learn more and meet people.

-Chris

Hey Chris, Welcome aboard!

I look forward to meeting you, with the Delorean or Z.
I'd love to learn a bit about Deloreans from an owner.

Cool, welcome! There's a D that parks at my place of work but I haven't met the owner yet. Have you done any mods to the D or is it pure stock?

I'm catching hell from friends who think I am trapped in the 1980s. I just happen to like that era of cars. My first car was a 1990 Dodge Daytona. I think of the Daytona as a crappy interpretation of a Z31. I want to return to the days of driving a hatchback coupe, just not in another Daytona. I saw my friend's 1985 Turbo Z and instantly thought "This is similar to my Daytona, only a million times better!"

The 1960s are my second favorite era for cars. (I'm a huge fan of John DeLorean and his babies, the Pontiac Firebird and Pontiac GTO.)

The DeLorean is a reliable and solid car at this point. The only part of the body that is prone to rust is the frame. If you are familiar with the frame, it's an epoxy coated mild steel frame. As long as you keep the epoxy maintained, the frame will last forever. I use POR-15 for all epoxy repair. The rest of the car is fiberglass and stainless steel. Very easy to maintain.

I take pride in the fact I maintain the car and keep it on the road. It's very important for me to drive and enjoy the car. Although it's garaged from rain and snow, it is driven. 38,000 miles on it.

Occasionally I will ask the gas station attendant about plutonium. Doing it with a straight face gets the best reactions. I get the "does it run on garbage?" question a lot. I say yes...straight faced.

Hey, the Delorean is really cool. Saw one in a car museum in PA once. I keep thinking about flux capacitors for some reason. Anyway, nice to have you on board. Welcome.
